It’s time again to feature another Artist Who Inspires Me. This month I am showcasing the work of painter Mike Dziomba. Mike and I have been in several shows together the last few years and I have enjoyed getting to know him both as an artist and a person. With regard to his talents as a painter, one of the things that always impresses me is the amount of detail he is able to recreate in his pictures. The tiniest blades of grass are not only often clearly visible, but they seem to breathe with life. I also really like his use of scale and perspective to approach, but not quite fully embrace, the spatial reality of the original scene. But more than his artistic talents, it is Mike’s character and devotion to other artists that really inspires me. He is active in several arts organizations, including volunteering as President of MSHAC, a New Jersey based, non-profit group devoted to helping artists of all levels advance their skills. He works tirelessly and ceaselessly to support MSHAC and its members. Mike is often the first to arrive and last to leave when there is an MSHAC event. He’s the one checking people in at the beginning of a show, and the one who stays until the very end to make sure no one’s work is left behind. He’s also just a really nice guy and has continually extended a helping to hand to me the last few years. I am grateful for both the friendship and guidance he has given me.  Thanks Mike for who you are and all you do!
