THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOS
Watch my
YouTube video about these photos.
These photos were taken at the Boonton Labor Day Carnival in Boonton New Jersey. The Carnival is sponsored by the Boonton Fire Department and is an annual fundraiser for the all volunteer fire department. it's a wonderful, family-friendly event with games and rides for people of all ages. Please help support the fire department. Contributions can be made at
www.boontonfd.comWhat I love about these images is all the motion I was able to capture. Each frame in this collection is a long exposure of between 45-60 seconds. This means the camera is stationary and recording all the activity for up to one minute. It's the long exposure that creates the beautiful streaking of the clouds in the daytime shots and the really cool movement of the rides in all the shots. I had to use a tripod for each of these photos since the camera has to be perfectly still during the time the picture is being taken. That meant setting up in front of each ride and making sure people didn't bump into my camera or else the shot would be ruined (which did happen quite a few times.) I had to play offense back and protect my quarterback (the camera) :-)
I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do, and I hope you make it to the Carnival next Labor Day. It's a really fun event.
