THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOS
These photos were taken on a recent trip to Florida to visit family. I struck out on my own one afternoon looking for interesting places to shoot. Driving up the coast from West Palm Beach, I found the Juno Beach Pier. I love the color and compositions on the daylight shots. The setting sun was at just the right angle to light up the pier and also the clouds above it. The double exposure was the result of a wave washing out the sand below the tripod's front foot causing the camera to move while taking the shot. Also, what’s really interesting about the daytime shots is that the water was filled with surfers. But because they were constantly moving up and down on the waves, none of them got recorded during the long exposure.
On the full moon shots, this is one of those happy accidents. I had no idea it was a full moon that night, nor that it would be coming up right above the pier. I was just in the right place at the right time to capture these amazing images. I love when I show up and nature cooperates.
