Jude_Allen_1Jude_Allen_1  Every now and again I like to feature the work of other artists who inspire me. This month I am featuring the work of photographer Jude Allen. Jude brings something special and unique to the world of landscape photography. His photos contain all the important elements of good landscape photography: composition, foreground and background elements, leading lines, color & contrast, etc. But then he adds one more element that is uniquely his - his photos are just totally cool!

I have been following Jude for a couple of years now. It's hard to believe he started taking photography seriously less than three years ago. Whenever I see a new photo from him, I am always amazed. I stop and ask, "How does he do it?" We may never know for sure, but I hope he keeps doing it for a long, long time. I'm sure he has a totally amazing future ahead of him!

I had a chance to interview Jude recently about his photography.

Hey Jude! (Sorry couldn't resist :-) ) Please introduce yourself:

Hello my name is Jude Allen. I am based out of the San Francisco Bay Area in California.

How long have you been doing photography and what got you started:

I have been taking photos of random people and places for a while but only started to really take it seriously two years ago when I started taking skateboarding photos. I had to learn my camera and how to compose a shot. I immediately started to receive recognition for my skateboarding photos on Instagram which is what inspired me to push it further. A few months later I got into landscape photography and became obsessed.

Most of us have outside influences on our work. Who or what inspires your photography?

I get inspired by people that push the envelope of creativity whether it be music, art, skateboarding etc. Also, people that have a drive to progress mentally, physically or spiritually. There are a lot of other photographers that inspire me but its usually the ones who are more creative and have a different approach than the norm.

What's ahead for you as a photographer?

Seeing how this is currently just a hobby / obsession for me, I would say to be a working professional is what is next for me. I aspire to learn everything I can about photography and anything related and push the limits as far as I can take them.

Thanks for your time. I'll keep an eye out for all your new photos. Jude Allen - you inspire me!
